The length of hypotenuse of a right triangle is one unit more than twice the length of the shortest side and the other side is one unit less than twice the length of the shortest side. Find the lengths of the other two sides

Let the shortest side be x

Therefore the longest side =2x-1

Therefore hypotenuse =2x+1

By Pythagoras theorum

(hypotenuse)^2= ( base)^2 + (Height)^2

(2x+1)^2= (x)^2+ (2x-1)^2

4x^2+1= x^2+ 4x^2-1

2x^2+=4x^2-1

4x^2-1=2x^2+1

2x^2-1=1

2x^2=2

x^2=1

x=√1

Therefore

hypotenuse = 2x+1

= √1+1

height. = 2x-1

= √1-1

base= √1
