Given,

The length of the largest chord of a circle = 7.8 cm.

To find,

The radius of the circle.

Solution,

The radius of the circle will be 3.9 cm.

We can easily solve this problem by following the given steps.

We know that a chord is a straight line joining two points on the circle. The largest chord of the circle is the one that passes through its centre (diameter). And the diameter of the circle is twice that of its radius.

According to the question,

The length of the largest chord of a circle = 7.8 cm

Diameter = 7.8 cm

2 × radius = 7.8 cm

Radius = 7.8/2 cm ( 2 was in the multiplication on the left-hand side. So, it is in the division on the right-hand side.)

Radius = 3.9 cm

Hence, the radius of the circle is 3.9 cm. (The length of the chord was given in centimetres. So, the radius will also be in the same units.)
