To find :

The area swept by minute hand in 30 minutes.

Solution :

The angle subtended by the minute's hand in 30 min (x°) = 180°

Length of the minute's hand (r) = 3.5cm

Area swept by minutes hand in 30 min = area of the sector

Area swept by minutes hand in 30 min= x°/360° × πr²

Substituing for r,

Area swept by minutes hand in 30 min= 180/360 × 22/7 × (3.5)²

Area swept by minutes hand in 30 min= 19.25 cm²

Therefore, the area swept by minute hand in 30 minutes is 19.25 cm².
