Given :   The length of one side of triangle is 10 cm and the perpendicular from the opposite vertex is 8 cm ..

the length of another side of this triangle is 16 cm .

To Find :  the length of the perpendicular from opposite vertex to 16 cm side

Solution:

Area of Triangle = (1/2) * Base * height

Height = Corresponding altitude =   perpendicular from the opposite vertex

Area of Triangle = (1/2) * 10  * 8

length of the perpendicular from opposite vertex to 16 cm side  = h cm

Area of Triangle = (1/2) * 16  * h

Equate area

(1/2) * 16  * h  =  (1/2) * 10  * 8

=> 16  * h  =  80

=> h =  5 cm

length of the perpendicular from opposite vertex to this side = 5 cm
