Solution :-

  • Let the breadth of rectangle be x then length be 3x

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 48 cm

As we know that

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where "l" is length and "b" is breadth of rectangle

According to the given condition

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 48 cm

→ 2(l + b) = 48

Put the value of length and breadth

→ 2(3x + x) = 48

→ 2 × 4x = 48

→ 8x = 48

→ x = 48/8

→ x = 6

Hence,

  • x = 6

Therefore,

  • Breadth of rectangle = x = 6cm

  • Length of rectangle = 3x = 18cm

Verification :-

  • Length = 18cm
  • Breadth = 6cm

Perimeter of rectangle

→ 2(l + b)

→ 2(18 + 6)

→ 2 × 24

→ 48cm
