Let the initial Length be y meters and breadth be z meters.

Initial Area = yz meter^2

Final length = (150/100) x y .

=  \frac{ 3y }{ 2 }

Final Breadth = (50/100) x z.

=  \frac{z}{2}

Final area = 3yz/4

Percentage decrease = [tex] \frac{ yz - (\frac{3yz}{4}) }{yz} [/tex] x 100 = 25%

Hope it helps.
