Let the breadth of room be x cm.

Length of room will be x+3 cm.

area \: = 180 \: {cm}^{2} \\ \\ l \times b = 180 \\ \\ (x + 3) \times x = 180 \\ \\ {x}^{2} + 3x = 180 \\ \\ {x}^{2} + 3x - 180 = 0 \\ \\ {x}^{2} + 15x - 12x - 180 = 0 \\ \\ x(x + 15) - 12(x + 15) = 0 \\ \\ (x + 15) \: (x - 12) = 0 \\ \\ x = - 15 \: \: or \: \: \: x = 12

But side cannot be negative therefore x = 12 cm.

So breadth = 12cm

And length = 12+3 = 15cm
