ANSWER:-

Given:

The length of tangent from a point A at distance 35cm from the centre of the circle is 28cm.

To find:

Radius & area of the circle.

Solution:

Since AB is tangent.

Hence,

OB perpendicular to AB

Therefore,

•angle OBA= 90°

∆OAB is a right ∆

So,

Using Pythagoras Theorem:

(Hypotenuse)²=(base)²+(perpendicular)²

=) OA² = OB² + AB²

=) 35² = OB² + 28²

=) OB² = 35² - 28²

=) OB² = 1225 - 784

=) OB² = 441

=) OB= √441

=) OB = 21cm

Now,

•Area of circle = πr²

=) 22/7 × 21cm × 21cm

=) 22× 3cm × 21cm

=) 1386cm²

Hence,

The area of circle is 1386cm².

Hope it helps ☺️
