Let the length of the height be ' x ' m

By pythagoras theorem

( Base )² + ( Height )² = ( Hypotenuse )²

⇒ 12² + x² = 13²

⇒ 144 + x² = 169

⇒ x² = 169 - 144

⇒ x² = 25

⇒ x = √25

⇒ x = ± 5

⇒ x = 5 [ neglecting - 5 as length can't he negative ]

Length of the height of the triangle = 5 m

Area of triangle = 1/2 × Base × Height

= 1/2 × 5 × 12

= 5 × 6

= 30

Therefore area of the triangle is 30 m².
