so pythagoras theorem can be applied here

Diagonal² = One side² + other side²

=> 26² = 24² + other side²

=> other side² = 26² - 24²

a² - b² = (a+b)(a-b)

=>other side² = (26 + 24)(26 - 24)

=>other side² = 50 * 2

=>other side² = 100

=> other side = 10 cm
