 =  \sqrt{8 {}^{2}  + 6 {}^{2} }  \\  =  \sqrt{64 + 36}  \\  =  \sqrt{100}  \\  = 10cm

Let ABCD be the rectangle
Given, AB=8cm
BC=6cm
then,
CD=8cm
AD=6cm(because opposite sides of. rectangle are equal)
Then, ABC forms a right angled triangle....According to Pythagoras theorem,
(Hypotenuse)^2=(Side1)^2+(side2)^2
(diagonal)^2=6^2+8^2=36+64=100
diagonal=√100=10
therefore, diagonal=10cm
