Let length =x

and breadth =y

⇒x−y=3

x=y+3

Nowx

2+y

2 =225⇒(y+3)

2 +y

2 =225

⇒y

2 +9+6y+y

2 =225⇒2y

2 +6y+9−225=0

2y

2 +6y−216=0

y

2 +3y−108=0

y= 2−3± 9+4×108

 = 2−3± 441

= 2−3±21

y= 2−3−21

 = 2−24

:y= 2−3+21

 = 218

 =9

=−12

∴y=9 and x=12

∴area=xy=12×9=108m

2

Perimeter=2(x+y)=2(9+12)=2×21=42m
