Soln:-

length of equator=2πr

2πr =88
πr=44
r=44×7/22
=14 cm

Surface area =4πr^2
=4×22/7×14×14 cm^2
=2464 cm^2

The surface are of the globe is 2464 sq.cm

Given: The length of equator is 88cm

To Find: Surface area of the globe.

Solution:

As equator is the middle most circle of the globe and it's length= to the circumference of the equator

Circumference of equator= 88

2 *22/7 * r = 88

r = 14 cm.

Now surface area of globe

4\pi {r}^{2}

Surface area of globe = 4 * 22/7 * 14 * 14

Surface area of globe= 2464 sq.cm

Hence, the surface area of globe is 2464 sq.cm.
