the length of the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle is 10cm . if the lengths of the other two sides are in the ratio 3:4 , find the length of these sides .

Let the ratios of it's legs be 3x and 4x.

For a right angled triangle

By pythagoras theorem

H^2 = P^2+ B^2

10^2 = 3x^2 +4x^2

100 = 9x^2 + 16x^2

100 = 25x^2

100 ÷ 25 = x^2

4 = x^2

x= 2

Length of longer arm is 4x = 4×2=8
