Step-by-step explanation:

Let

The two parallel sides be a & b

Distance between parallel sides be h

Given,

a = 22

b = 16

h = 11

Formula for area of trapezium

A = [( a+b )× h] ÷2

Putting the values of a,b,h in equation

A =[(22+16)×11]÷2

A =[38×11]÷2

A = [418]÷ 2

A = 209 square unit.

Hope you get it

Concept

A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with two parallel sides that are not equal in length, and the other two sides are not parallel. The parallel sides of the trapezoid are called the base, and the non-parallel sides of the trapezoid are called the legs. Also called a trapezoid

Given

We have given the length of the parallel sides of a trapezium 3cm and 1 cm and the distance between the parallel sides which is 1 cm.

Find

We are asked to determine the area of the trapezium.

Solution

We will use the following formula for calculating area of trapezium.

A=\frac{1}{2} \times (a+b)\times h      ....(1)

where a and b are length of parallel sides and h is the height.

Putting a = 3 , b = 1 and h = 1  in equation (1) , we get

A=\frac{1}{2} \times (3+1)\times 1\\\\=\frac{4}{2} \\\\=2cm^2

Hence, the area of the given trapezium is 2cm^2
