  • The ratio of length of the parallel sides of a trapezium is 3:5.

  • The distance between them is 10cm.

  • The area of trapezium is 120cm².

\sf{\huge{\underline{\green{To\:Find :-}}}}

  • The length of the parallel sides of a trapezium .

\sf{\huge{\underline{\blue{Solution :-}}}}

Let the parallel sides of a trapezium be in form of x.

So, 3x & 5x

We have,The area of trapezium is 120cm².

We know,

Area of trapezium = ½ × (sum of || sides ) × h

So we get,

➝ Area of trapezium = ½ × (3x + 5x) × 10

➝ 120 = ½ × 8x × 10

➝ 120 = 5 × 8x

➝ 8x = 24

➝ x = 24 / 8

x = 3

Therefore, parallel sides are :-

  • 3x = 3 × 3 = 9 cm

  • 5x = 5 × 3 = 15 cm
