The length of the parallel sides of trapezium are in ratio 4 is to 7 is the height of trapezium is 14 M and its area is 385 square metre find the length of its parallel sides

let each part of the ratio be x

first side = 4x

second side = 7x

area of a trapezium = 1/2 * h ( a + b )

1/2 * 14 ( 4x + 7x ) = 385

7 * ( 4x + 7x ) = 385

11x = 385 / 7 = 55

x = 55 / 11 = 5m

4x = 4 * 5 = 20m

7x = 4 * 7 = 28m
