Complete Question :

  • The length of the rectangle is 3cm more than its breadth its perimetre is 34 cm what is the Length and Breadth of rectangle.

To Find :

  • Length of rectangle = ?
  • Breadth of rectangle = ?

Solution :

Let Breadth be 'x'. Then, the Length will be 'x + 3'

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 34 cm

Finding Length and Breadth of rectangle :

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

→ 34 = 2(x + 3 + x)

→ 34 = 2(2x + 3)

→ 34 ÷ 2 = 2x + 3

→ 17 = 2x + 3

→ 17 - 3 = 2x

→ 14 = 2x

→ x = 14 ÷ 2

x = 7 cm

  • Hence,the Breadth of rectangle is 7 cm.

Finding Length of rectangle :

→ Length of rectangle = x + 3

→ Length of rectangle = 7 + 3

Length of rectangle = 10 cm

  • Hence, the Length of rectangle is 10 cm.

Verification :

→ 34 = 2(x + 3 + x)

→ 34 = 2(2x + 3)

→ 34 = 2(2(7) + 3)

→ 34 = 2(14 + 3)

→ 34 = 2(17)

34 = 34

LHS = RHS

Hence Verified !
