Let the breadth be x cm

length = x + 5 cm

Perimeter = 38cm

Perimeter = 2( l + b )

38 = 2 (x + x + 5 )

38/2 = 2x + 5

19 = 2x + 5

19 - 5 = 2x

14 = 2x

x = \frac{14}{2}

x = 7

so,

breadth = x = 7 cm

length= x + 5 = 7 + 5 = 12cm

Area = Length × breadth

= 12cm × 7cm

= 84cm²

Let the breadth of a rectangle be "b units". And length of the rectangle is (b+5)units.
2(b+b+5)=38;
2(2b+5)=38;
2b+5=19;
2b=19-5=14;
b=7
length=5+7=12
Area of a rectangle =l×b=7×12=84 square units.
