The area of the rectangle is 2166 m².

Explanation:

It is stated that,

The length of the rectangle = 60 m

The breadth of the rectangle = 40 m

5% of the length = (60 × 5/100)

                          =(60/20)

                            = 3 m

∴ When the length gets reduced by 5% then it becomes = (60-3) m

                                                                                             = 57 m

5% of the breadth = (40 × 5/100)

                              = (40/20)

                              = 2 m

∴ After getting reduced by 5% the breadth becomes = (40-2) m

                                                                                       = 38 m

Hence, for the new rectangle_

Length = 57 m

Breadth = 38 m

Area = (Length × Breadth)

        = (57 × 38)

        = 2166 m²

∴ The area of the rectangle is 2166 m².
