let x be the breadth of the garden
length of the garden =x+7
area=x(x+7)
144=x^2+7x
solving quadratic we get x=9
breadth=9
and length = 16

let breadth is x m
so length is (x+7)m
ATQ,

x(x+7)=144
x^2+7x-144=0
x^2+16x-9x-144=0
x(x+16)-9(x+16)=0
(x+16)(x-9)=0
x=-16,9
so breadth is 9 m and length is 16 m
