The length of a rectangular room exceeds its breadth by 4 m.
L = W + 4
LW = original area
If the length Is increased by 6 m and breadth diminished by 4 m, there would be no change in the area
(L+6)(W-4) = LW
FOIL
LW - 4L + 6W - 24 = LW
Subtract LW from both sides, add 24 to both sides
-4L + 6W = 24
Replace L with (W+4)

-4(W+4) + 6W = 24
-4W - 16 + 6W = 24
2W = 24 + 16
2W = 40
W = 20 is the width
:
Find the length and breadth of the room.
20 + 4 = 24 m is the length, 20 m is the width

You can confirm this for yourself, find the area using both set of dimensions
