let the broken part of tree be x

then total height of tree=7+x

since it form a right angled triangle with base 24m and height 7m and hypotenuse be x

then by using Pythagoras theorem

(hypotenuse)^2=(base)^2+(height)^2

x^2=24^2+7^2

x^2=576+49

x^2=625

x=25

therefore height of tree =x+7=25+7=31
