The length of the sides of a triangle are in the ratio 2:3::4and its perimeter is 144 cm. Find the area of the triagnle and the height corresponding to the longest side.

Answer:

Let the sides be. 2x 3x and 4x

Then

2x + 3x +4x. = 144

9x= 144

X = 16

1st side=32

2nd side= 48

3rd side = 64

Area = √ s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

S= 144/2=72

Area=√ 72(72-32)(72-48)(72-64)

=√72*40*24*8

=192√15
