\large\underline\bold\red{Given}

The length of tangent from a point A at distance 35cm from the centre of the circle is 28cm.

\large\underline\bold\red{To \: find}

Radius & area of the circle.

\large\underline\bold\red{solution }

Since AB is tangent.

Hence,

OB perpendicular to AB

Therefore,

•angle OBA= 90°

∆OAB is a right ∆

So,

Using Pythagoras Theorem:

(Hypotenuse)²=(base)²+(perpendicular)²

\dashrightarrowOA² = OB² + AB²

\dashrightarrow35² = OB² + 28²

\dashrightarrow OB² = 35² - 28²

\dashrightarrowOB² = 1225 - 784

\dashrightarrowOB² = 441

\dashrightarrowOB= √441

\dashrightarrowOB = 21cm

\large\underline\bold\red{now}

\longrightarrowArea of circle = πr²

\dashrightarrow22/7 × 21cm × 21cm

\dashrightarrow 22× 3cm × 21cm

\dashrightarrow 1386cm²

\large\underline\bold\red{hence,}

The area of circle is 1386cm².
