The lengths of two adjacent sides of a parallelogram PQRS are 15 cm and 12 cm respectively. If the height corresponding to the base QR is 9 cm, find – a) Area of parallelogram b) Height corresponding to base PQ

Area of the parallelogram is given by:

Area = base (b) x height (h)

base (b) = 15 cm; height (h) = 7

(i) Area of the parallelogram = 15 x 7 = 105 cm2

(ii) base (b) = 12 cm ; height = a (say),

Area = 105 cm

Area of the parallelogram = bx a cm

105 = 12 x a

Thus, a = 8.75 cm
