The lengths of two parallel chords of a circle 1 cm apart on
the same side of the centre are respectively 10 cm and 8
cm. The distance of the longer chord from the centre of
the circle is:

(A)4cm
(B)5cm
(C)7cm

 {oa}^{2} =  {5}^{2} +  {om}^{2}

 {ob}^{2} =  {4}^{2}  +  {om +}^{2}

oa = ob = radius

25 +  {om}^{2}  = 16 +  {om}^{2}  + 1 + 20m

25 +  {om}^{2}  = 16 +  {om}^{2}  + 1 + 20m \\ 20.m = 8

om = 4 cm
