Let the width be a cm
Length = 2a

perimeter = 2(2a+a)
48 = 6a
a = 8

Width = 8 cm
Length = 16 cm

length=2x
breadth=x
perimeter=48

perimeter=2 (l+b)
48=2 (x+2x)
48=2x+4x
48=6x
48/6=x
24/3=x
8=x

therefore x=8..........
