ANSWER:

The lesson ‘We’re not afraid to die if we all be together’ is written by Gordon Cook. It portrays the cruise journey of Gordon cook, his wife, Mary and their two children, Jonathan and Suzanne on a ship through the South Indian Ocean. As they were travelling to Amsterdam from Cape Town, the gales were harsh over them. And the tides were so high that they feared the waves would swallow them off. It was around 15 meters high.

But when they experienced a tremendous explosion, all the crew members including the two experienced sailors, Larry Virgil and Herb Seigler lose their hope to make the ship, Wave walker, reach the land. This was when the narrator took charge of the ship. Even though he was injured, he did not give much importance to his injury. He somehow found the wheel of the ship and controlled it to attack the next tide until when Mary took over its charge. While Larry and Herb starting pumping out water. The narrator started to cover the gaps of the surface of the ship with canvas so as to avoid water from entering the ship.

Then they found that the hand pump had stopped working and the electric pumps short circuited. Fortunately, the narrator had found a spare one below the chart room. They spent the entire night pumping, steering, repairing and sending radio signal. Even their children had said that they were ready to die if they all stood together. He found Suzanne's head swollen and she had a deep injury. This courage of their children inspired the narrator, which made them reach the land of Amsterdam.

This story suggests the idea that when we stand in unity, the hopeless idea that we will fall will divide and become nothing. And also the courage of different people in the group will give us the hope of success.
