The lid of a rectangular box of sides 40 cm by 10 cm is sealed all around with tape. What is the length of the tape required?

hence the lid will be rectangular,

so perimeter of lid = length of tape

we know that, perimeter of rectangle = 2(length+breadth)

so, perimeter of lid = 2(40+10)cm

= 2x50

= 100 cm

therefore, length of tape = 100cm or 1m
