We shall solve it without plotting points on graph.

If the line has to cut y - axis then obviously y will be 0.

⇒ 3x - 5y = -10

By substituting y = 0.

⇒ 3x - 5 × 0 = -10

⇒ 3x - 0 = -10

⇒ 3x = -10

⇒ x = -10 / 3.

∴ Graph of this equation will cut y - axis at ( -10/3 , 0 ).
