The imaginary vertical lines that run from the North pole to the South pole on a map are called longitudinal lines.

EXPLANATION:

    Longitudes are imaginary circles which intersect the South/North Poles, as well as the Equator. ½ a longitudinal circle is called the Meridian. Longitude is the measurement east/west of the prime meridian. These lines are termed as meridians. Each meridian is 1 arc longitude degree. The distance round the Earth is 360°.

   The meridian which runs via Greenwich, England, is globally recognised as the line of zero degrees longitude or prime meridian. The anti-meridian is half-way across the globe, at 180°. It is the base for the Universal Date Line. "The Prime Meridian" is fixed as zero degrees longitude and it splits "the Earth into" the Western/Eastern Hemisphere.
