The line plot shows the different lengths of nails in your toolbox. If you take all the nails that are less than 2 inches long and lay them end to end, how far will they reach?

Given :   line plot showing the different lengths of nails in toolbox.

To find :  if all the nails that are less than 2 inches long are laid end to end, how far will they reach

Solution:

Size inches      numbers ( frequency)

1/2                     3

1                         5

1\frac{1}{2}                        6

2                         1

2\frac{1}{2}                       0

3                         0

3\frac{1}{2}                         2

4                          1

Less than 2 inches  Size  are 1/2  ,  1  &  1\frac{1}{2}  

Total Length  = length of all nails less than 2 inches

=  3(1/2)  + 5(1) + 6( 1\frac{1}{2}   )

= 3/2  + 5 + 9

= 31/2

= 15\frac{1}{2}   inches

They will go 15\frac{1}{2}   inches  far

option C is Correct
