Answer:

Sorry I didn't do full answer bcoz iam outof station but you get correct answer if u do this method

Step-by-step explanation:

use mid point formula substitute those values in mid point formula you get value of p.for more information check textbook example before exercise

Midpoint formula :

here x1= 2, X2 = -3,y1 = -1 ,y2 =-p x = -1/2 ,y= -3/2

substitute these values in formula you get

( \frac{ - 1}{2} , \frac{ - 3}{2} ) = \: ( \frac{ - 1}{2} ,  \frac{ - p - 1}{ 2} )

now you write like this

if (a,b) = (x ,y) then x = a and y = b

then you write like this according to statement like

 \frac{ - 3}{2}  =  \frac{ - p - 1}{2}

now cross multiply we get

-6 = 2(-p-1)

=

 - 6 =  - 2p - 2 \\  - 4 =  - 2p \\ p =  \frac{ - 4}{ - 2}  \\ p = 2

therefore the value of p in which The line segment AB with end points A(2,-1) and B(-3,-p) has (-1/2,-3/2) as mid point is 2
