The linear equation y = negative 2 x + 4 is represented on the graph below. On a coordinate plane, a line goes through (0, 4) and (2, 0). A second linear equation is represented by the data in the table. x y –4 –3 0 –1 2 0 6 2 What is the solution to the system of equations? (2, 0) (0, 4) (0, –1) (4, –4)

solution:-

step 1

answer:-

(2,0)

step by step explaination:-

find the equation of the second line we have,

y = -2x + 4 ------------------------------------(1) equation

find the second line equation we have,

(-4 , -3) ; (0 , -1) ; (2, 0) ; (6,2)

find the slope m

points are (0 , -1) ; (2 ,0) → y intercept

and x- intercept of the second equation.

m = (0+1) / 2-0

m=1/2

the equation of the line into slope intercept form is equal to

y = (1/2)x-1 ---------------------------------------(2) equation

step 2

we have,

y= -2x + 4 ------------(1) equation

y= (1/2)x-1 -------------(2) equation

solve by graphing

the intersection points is (2,0)

therefore,

the solution of the system of equation is (2,0).
