Smoking can hurt young people's breathing, physical fitness, and health as contributing members of the community free from the negative effects of alcohol and drug use . Alcohol intoxication affects the brain, causing slurred speech, clumsiness, etc .

Cigarettes causes lung cancer by destroying the alveolus or making them inefficient for gas exchange. The tissues of alveoli absorbs smoke making them thicker which leads to less storage of oxygen. It also leads to breathing problem or asthma.

Alcohol causes the liver to generate heat but excessive alcoholism may lead to liver cirrhosis or liver cancer which is most of the times fatal. Alcoholism only effects the liver while the other parts are rarely affected.
