Time at Greenwich = 7:30 pmGreenwich is the 0°longitude. Time at given place = 12 pm. Distinction between the time at the two spots = 7 hours 30 mins.

Since the time at given place is not as much as that at the Greenwich meridian, the place is toward its west.

It takes 4 minutes for the earth to cover 1°Therefore, it will take a hour (60 minutes) to cover 15°So, the Earth will cover 112.5°(15x7.5) in 7.5 hrs.

Thus, the area of the place is 112.5°West.

(1) When at particular place the sun reaches the maximum height in the sky it is assumed that almost half of the day time is over and this time is considered 12 noon.

(2) The time of particular place as decided by the overhead position of the sun in the sky in considered as the local time of that place.

(3) During the rotation of the earth, when a particular longitude comes exactly in front of the sun, it is considered as noon time (12 noon) on that longitude. This noon is considered as local time of that longitude.
