Given  :  a point which is at a distance of 3 units above x- axis

To Find : locus of  point

1) (x,3)

2) (3,y)

3) (3,1)

4) (x,-3)

Solution:

A line  y  = k   is at a distance of  | k |  from x axis

Hence line

y = ±3 is at a distance of 3 from x axis

Any point of line  y = ±3  is of form

(x , ±3)

(x  , 3)  is above x axis  and (x , - 3) is below x axis

Hence The locus of a point which is at a distance of 3 units above x- axis is

( x , 3)

Correct option is 1) ( x , 3)
