The longer side of a rectangle is three times the length of the shorter side each diagonal of rectangle is 22 cm long find the dimension of rectangle.

Let the breadth be x

and so, the length = 3x

Diagonal = 22cm

diagonal \: of \: a \: rectangle \:  =  \sqrt{ {l}^{2}  +  {b}^{2} }

Putting the values,

22 =  \sqrt{ {(3x}^{2)} +  {(x})^{2}  }

22 =  \sqrt{ {9x}^{2} +  {x}^{2}  }

22 =   \sqrt{ {10x}^{2} }

22 \times 22 =  {10x}^{2}

[SQUARING BOTH THE SIDES]

 {x}^{2}  = 484/10

x =  \sqrt{48.4}

x = 6.95

Then, 3x = 6.95 x 3 = 17.85

LENGTH = 17.58cm

BREADTH = 6.95CM
