The loss of Kandahar territory was a major blow for the Mughal Empire due to the following reasons :

- A proper strategy had been set up by the Mughal Empire to defeat Safavid Empire to takeover Kandahar and it turned out to be very successful as it became the prime reason for the return of Mughal Dynasty.

- In 1638 , Safavid Empire was betrayed by their own governor (Ali Mardan Khan)who gave the control of the city to the Mughals unknowingly which resulted in conflict between the two empires resulting in war.
