The luster on the surface of aluminum utensils in the house is lost after few days. Why does this happen?

Metals like gold, iron, aluminium etc. have very shiny appearance.

Air contains moisture or you can say water and oxygen.

We know that when metal reacts with either oxygen rich air or water it will get oxidised.

Hence, when these metal get oxidised they will form a coat on it and hence loose shine.
