The M.P of a pen and notebook is in ratio 2:3.Sushil bought some pens and notebooks from a shop whose number is in the ratio 5:4.Sushil gets discount of 10% and 25% on pens and notebooks respectively. If amount paid by Sushil to shopkeeper is 2700, then find the total discount he has received on pen?
Answers
Answer:
The ratio for marked price of a pen to the notebook is 2:3.
So, let the marked price for the pen be 2x and the marked price for the notebook be 3x.
Now, the number of pen and notebooks bought by Sushil are in the ratio of 5:4.
So, let the number of pen bought be 5x and the number of notebooks bought be 4x.
Now, Sushil get discount of 10% for pens and 25% for notebooks.
The amount paid by Sushil is 2700.
Now, we just need to find the discount received by Sushil for the pens.
The actual price of the pens = 2x * 5x
( This is actually Marked price of pens * Quantity bought by Sushil )
Hence, Price = 10x²
Now, the percentage of discount that Sushil gets on buying pens is 10%.
So, 10x² * 10%
= 10x² * 10/100
= x²
Hence, the new price of pens with discount (i.e. the price Sushil payed) = 10x² - x² = 9x²
Now, similarly finding the price of notebooks alone that Sushil paid.
Actual price of notebooks = 3x * 4x = 12x²
We know the percentage of discount on notebooks was 25%.
Hence, 12x² * 25%
= 12x² * 25/100
= 12x² * 1/4
= 3x²
Now, Price payed by Sushil = 12x² - 3x² = 9x²
Now, the total price Sushil paid was 2700.
Hence, 9x² + 9x² = 2700
=> 18x² = 2700
=> x² = 2700/18
=> x² = 150
Now, At last, the total discount received by Sushil on the pens was x² = Rs. 150.
Similarly, the total discount received by Sushil on the notebooks was 3x² = 3 * 150 = 450.
Given :-
- MP of Pen & Notebook Ratio = 2 : 3.
- Numbers of Pen & Notebooks Bought = 5 :4
- Discount on Pen = 10% .
- Discount on Notebook = 25% .
- Total Money Sushil Paid = Rs.2700
To Find :-
- Total discount he has received on pen ?
Solution :-
As, Solution By Assuming x is Already given, Lets Try to Solve with Assuming Them in Multiple of 100 to Make our Calculation Easy.
Let us Assume That, Marked Price of Pen & Notebook are Rs.200 & Rs.300. Let us Also Assume That, Sushil buy 5 pens & 4 Notebook.
So,
→ MP of 1 pen = Rs.200
→ Discount % = 10% .
→ SP = [ MP * (100 - D%) / 100 ]
→ SP = [ 200 * (100 - 10) / 100 ]
→ SP = (200 * 90) / 100
→ SP = Rs.180
Therefore,
→ SP of 5 pens = 180 * 5 = Rs.900
Similarly,
→ MP of 1 Notebook = Rs.300
→ Discount % = 25% .
→ SP = [ MP * (100 - D%) / 100 ]
→ SP = [ 300 * (100 - 25) / 100 ]
→ SP = (300 * 75) / 100
→ SP = Rs.225
Therefore,
→ SP of 4 Notebook = 225 * 4 = Rs.900
Adding Both we get :-
→ Total SP = 900 + 900 = Rs.1800 . = Amount paid by Sushil to shopkeeper..
__________
Now it is given that, Total amount paid by Sushil to shopkeeper is Rs.2700 .
So ,
→ Number of Times = ( Given Amount ) / ( Our Amount )
→ Times = (2700/1800) = 1.5 Times.
Hence, we can Conclude That, Our Assuming MP will also be 1.5 Times.
So,
→ MP of a Pen = 200 * 1.5 = Rs.300 (Originally).
___________
Now,
→ Discount on 1 pen = ( MP * Discount % ) / 100
→ Discount on 1 pen = (300 * 10) / 100
→ Discount on 1 pen = Rs.30.
Hence ,
→ Total Discount on 5 Such pen = 30 * 5 = Rs.150 (Ans.)
