Hey there!

Q- The machine cannot have its efficiency as 100%. Why?

A- What is Efficiency?
--It is the ratio between the output work to the input work done in the machine. It is represented as a percentage(%).

The machine cannot have its efficiency as 100% because of the following factors -:

1) The moving parts of machine are not frictionless.
2) The string is not perfectly elastic.
3) The different parts of machine are not perfectly rigid.

The total energy supplied to a system cannot be converted into external work completely.

Some part of the energy supplied is used to change the internal energy of the system. Some part is also released into the surroundings.

Generally, frictional losses are more predominant for the machines being not 100% efficient.

This friction leads to the loss of energy in the form of heat, into the surroundings.

Some of the supplied energy may be utilised to change the entropy (measure of randomness of the particles) of the system.

Energy loss due to friction can be minimised by using lubricants, but not upto 100%
