Explanation:

Given The magnetising field of 20 CGS units produces a flux of 2400 CGS units in a bar of iron of cross-section 0.2 cm^2. Calculate the   (i) permeability and (ii) susceptibility of the bar.

Now we need to find the magnetic field.

Magnetic field φ = B.A

                 Or B = φ / A

                          = 2400 x 10^8 / 0.2 x 10^4

                         = 1.2 wb / m^2

Now permeability μ = B / H

                                 = 1.2 / 20 / 4 π x 10^3

                                 = 7.54 x 10^-4

Now susceptibility μ = μo (1 + X m)

                       Or Xm = μ / μo – L

                                    = 7.54 x 10^-4 / 4π x 10^-7

                                    = 599.77 – 1

                                   = 598.77
