LPG contains butane and propane both.  If there is a choice to be made, then Butane.
========================
Liquefied petroleum gas is produced from petroleum.  It consists of propane C3H8 or butane (C4H10) or a mixture of both.  It depends on the countries and suppliers in what proportion they are mixed.  Butane propane and air are mixed in commercial LPG.

If we are talking of LPG for cooking, butane is more efficient as it burns at higher temperature and lasts longer.  Propane is not so efficient.

Methane is the natural gas that is used in some other applications.  Its calorific value is much less than that of butane or propane.

The main constituent of LPG is c)butane.

Liquefied petroleum gas:

  • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is the liquefied form of petroleum gases generated during crude oil and natural gas extraction or processing.
  • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a gasoline-based fuel gas that comprises a combustible combination of hydrocarbon gases, most notably propane, butane, and propylene.
  • However, the latter two often account for 5% or less of the total combination.
  • LPG is a fuel gas that is used in heating appliances, culinary equipment, and automobiles.
  • LPG is often used as a fuel source for gas barbeque grills, gas cooktops and ovens, gas fireplaces, and portable heaters.
  • LPG water heaters are prevalent throughout Europe.
  • It is also utilized as a fuel for engines and backup generators.
  • LPG, unlike fuel, may be kept almost indefinitely without deterioration.
