then father's age be 3x
after 12 years age of son = (x+12)
And age of father = (3x+12)
According to the question
3x+12 = 2(x+12)

= 3x-2x = 24- 12
= x = 12
Therefore son's age = 12
And father's age = 3×12
= 36 years
