Given:-

→ Mass of the man = 50kg

→ Number of steps climbed by the

man = 30

→ Time taken = 30 seconds

→ Height of each step = 20cm

To find:-

→ Power used in climbing stairs

Solution:-

Total height climbed by the man :-

= 30 × 20cm

= 6m

Now, we know that :-

P = mgh/t

Where :-

P is the power.

m is mass of the body.

g is acceleration due to gravity.

h is height.

t is time taken.

By substituting values, we get :-

=> P = 50×10×6/30

=> P = 500/5

=> P = 100 W

Thus, power used in climbing the stairs is 100W .

Some Extra Information:-

• Power of a machine is defined as the

rate of work done by the machine.

• Power is a scalar quantity.

• S.I. unit of power is Watt (W). Another

unit of power is Horse Power (HP).
