Given : The manager of a department store collects data on the number of employees who have left each month in the last one year.   data  is given

To find :  a) What is the probability that there will be at least one employee leaving next month?

(b) What is the probability that there will be more than two employees leaving next month?

Solution:

Employee Leaving      Month  Frequency     CF

0                                         2

1                                          3

2                                         2

3                                         1

4                                         3

5                                         1

                                        12

Total Employee Left = 2 * 0  + 3 * 1  + 2 * 2 + 1 * 3  + 3 * 4  + 1 * 5

= 0 + 3  +  4  + 3 + 12 + 5

= 27

Average employee left per month = 27/12 = 9/4 = 2.25

probability that there will be at least one employee leaving next month

=  1  - 0 employee leaving

= 1   - 2/12

= 10/12

= 5/6

probability that there will be more than two employees leaving next month

= 3 + 4 + 5 Employee leaving

(1 + 3 + 1)/12

= 5/12

5/6  is the probability that there will be at least one employee leaving next month

5/12  is the probability that there will be more than two employees leaving next month
