The manufacturing cost of a machine is 30,600. The manufacturer sells it to a dealer, and
the dealer sells it to a consumer. If the profit at each stage of the selling chain is rs. 1,000
and the rate of GST is 12% and sales are intra-state, find (i) the total amount of GST paid,
and (ii) the amount which the consumer pays for the machine.

Answer:

It is a case of intra-state transaction of goods and services

SGST=CGST=

2

1

 GST

Given:

Manufacturere sells T.V to a dealer = 30,600

Amount of GST collected by manufacturer from dealer

CGST= SGST =6% of 30,600

= 1836

So, manufacturere will pay Rs. 1836 as CGST and RS. 1836 as SGST

CP of a TV for dealer =Rs.30,600

Profit=Rs.1500

SP of a TV for dealer to costumer − CP + Profit=Rs.30,600+Rs.1500=Rs.32,100

Amount of GST collected by dealer from customer,

CGST =SGST=6% of Rs.32,100

=

100

6

×19500=Rs.1170

∴  Amount of GST received by the Central Government

=CGST paid by manufacturer + CGST paid by dealer =Rs.1836+Rs.90=Rs.1926
