Given data : The marked price of a clock is Rs. 4000. A shopkeeper sells it at the MP. If the rate of GST at every stage is 18% and the GST paid by shopkeeper is Rs. 288 to the government.

To find : what price inclusive of tax did the shopkeeper buy it from the wholesaler?

Solution : GST charged by shopkeeper is 12% on clock of Rs 4000.

Let, 12% GST be x

⟹ (x/4000) * 100 = 12

⟹ x/4000 = 12/100

⟹ x/4000 = 0.12

⟹ x = 0.12 * 4000

⟹ x = Rs 480

Hence, GST charged by shopkeeper is Rs 480.

⟹ unpaid GST = charged GST - paid GST

⟹ unpaid GST = 480 - 288

⟹ unpaid GST = Rs 192

Let, shopkeeper buys the clock at Rs y and GST on it is 12 % of Rs 192.

⟹ (192/y) * 100 = 12

⟹ 192/y = 12/100

⟹ 192/y = 0.12

⟹ y = 192/0.12

⟹ y = Rs 1600

Now,

⟹ Price price inclusive of tax

= 1600 + unpaid GST

⟹ Price price inclusive of tax

= 1600 + 192

⟹ Price price inclusive of tax

= Rs 1792

Answer : The Price price inclusive of tax paid by shopkeeper is Rs 1792.
